# The Century Conflict
### The War
Started by [[Frederick Valkirk IV]] in an effort to reestablish Valkirk's borders as they were before and during the , widely expanding into the borders of the [[Kenmare Wilds]].
The people of the wilds were very adverse to this, enjoying their independence, so they fought back. What the Kenmare people lacked in military experience, they made up for with knowledge of the deadly environment of the Wilds.
The lack of agility in the Wilds and a fading belief in the cause, the war simmered to a Stalemate. During this time, the Wilds became even more independent while Valkirk suffered a significant drain on their resources.
### The Kenmare Treaty
After the death of Frederick Valkirk IV, his sons [[Baron Sylvain Valkirk]] and [[Baron Frederick Valkirk V]] sought to end the drain this conflict inflicted on their people in Valkirk.
The Kenmare Treaty was signed in SY 262, ending the 100 year long conflict.
The terms of the treaty established the [[Kenmare Wilds]] as their own entity, outside of Aramil control. However, there would need to be a royal liaison appointed.
[[Baron Sylvain Valkirk]] is the current Royal Liaison, according to the Kenmare Treaty
### The Effects
There is still some residual tension between people of the Wilds and Valkirk. Most wood elves, even those not born in the Wilds, are distrusted by people who remember the Conflict. The worst of those in Valkirk still refuse to call the Kenmare people anything but "rebels" and the Wilds anything but "Greater Valkirk".
